Rita
From the moment I arrived at Hearten House, the love I felt was amazing. Words cannot describe what a wonderful feeling it was walking through the door. With the help of staff and God, I have hope for my future! I have integrity and self-confidence. But most importantly, today I LOVE and FORGIVE myself.
During my addiction I had no integrity. I knew the word and the definition, but never practiced it. I would say one thing and do another. Never did I take responsibility when I wronged someone.
Today with the help of Jesus and the staff at Hearten House, I want to be known as a person with integrity. I want to follow through with my commitments. I want to take responsibility and when I am wrong and I will admit it. To me integrity is a beautiful thing. There was a time that I did not think I would ever be forgiven. I continued doing and repeating the things that I knew God would not approve of… even when I knew the hurt it would cause for everyone.
Today I know my worth. I know my value. No matter what I have done, God loves me and God forgives me. Today, I’m grateful to be able to hold my head up high and not be bound by shame or guilt. I am proud of who I am today. I am proud of the woman I have become. God’s Word keeps me going. It gives me hope that a sinner like me is loved and forgiven. No matter what I have done or do, God will always love me. God’s Word tells me I am special; I am a child of God.
I am grateful for all the lessons I have learned. Some were happy and a lot of them sad, but each one has made me stronger and wiser. I am grateful to be able to say “I surrender.” The best is yet to come! Today I have a relationship with my Father, my Creator. I need Him every moment of every day. The times I feel weak, I will call upon Him and we can persevere together. With Him, all things are possible.
Today I am clean from all mind-altering substances. I have come to know the Lord; the love and grace and all His blessings have brought a peace to my heart. I know with Him on my side and with the Hearten House staff on the other side I am already a winner, and I will always be a winner.
