‘One Night’ highlights awareness for homelessness
Recently the James Cultural Plaza was occupied overnight by a group hoping to raise awareness for homelessness in DeKalb County. Hearten House, a local nonprofit, hosted its annual event, “One Night,” to highlight homelessness in the area where participants were able to spend the night outside at the plaza to experience what homelessness may be like.

Marathon runner generates funds with each mile
Daniel Martin finished 75 miles in 22 hours in a recent marathon run held at Chain O’ Lakes. Daniel raised more than $5500 in support for Hearten House!! Thank you Dan!!

Fun Friday: Roller Skating
Our first Fun Friday was an evening of roller skating, laughing, and celebrating Jessica’s birthday! A big thanks to Skatin Station for hosting our group! The smiles tell it all!
‘Shindig’ celebrates recovery & lives transformed
AUBURN – They came by fifteen-passenger vans. Loads after loads of people being shuttled from the DeKalb County Fairgrounds to Hearten House. Some even took a more scenic trip by horse-drawn wagon.
‘One Night’ to bring homelessness to downtown Auburn
AUBURN – A fundraising event is slated to take place in downtown Auburn, but this event will be without the normal fanfare of dinners and silent auctions. Hearten House, a local non-profit organization, is hosting its upcoming event, "One Night,” to highlight homelessness in the DeKalb County area.
100 mile marathon to benefit Hearten House
Pledges are currently being received to sponsor an avid marathon-runner who is donating pledges to Hearten House. In a 100-mile marathon, Daniel Martin plans to take to the trails of Chain O’ Lakes State Park to participate in the IT100 Mile event.
Volunteer Spotlight: Wilma
Wilma is a wonderful volunteer who participates in cooking class with our women. She said, “I really enjoy the mornings that I come to Hearten House, the devotions, and the fellowship in the cooking class.”

We are so grateful to Byler Lane for choosing Hearten House as the recipient funds raised through the 5k Run.

Spare change to support Hearten House
The Spencerville Eastern Star has chosen Hearten House as the recipient of their “Spare Change Jar” at the DeKalb County Fair. When folks purchase delicious donuts at the corner of Main and 7th Street during the fair this year, they will be invited to add their change to the jar.
Fun Fridays mark positive change
“Fun Fridays” was created as an incentive program to help promote positive changes while introducing our women to sober fun! Two Fridays a month, our executive director, Marisa, takes our women out for a fun adventure.
