One Night
One night. One Cause - Homelessness
About ‘One Night’
This unique, annual event is created to raise awareness for homelessness in DeKalb County. Many of us stay outside to raise awareness of the homeless crisis in DeKalb County and raise funds for Hearten House. Folks are encouraged to visit and learn more about this topic and hear testimonies of Hope at The James Cultural Plaza all night. The night usually includes a quest speaker, testimonials, fellowship time, and dinner. If you feel so led to stay outside and or contribute to this event, we are always looking for more to join us!
Get a glimpse of what it would feel like to be homeless. You may get cold, you may want to go home, you may be hungry… but you will never forget this One Night.
Funds raised from this event benefit Hearten House Gospel Rescue Mission.

What happens at One Night?
Participants will set up their tents, boxes or whatever else they want to use for their “home” for the night. Then we will come together for worship featuring area church worship bands and musicians. Hearten House graduates, volunteers and staff members will share testimonies and stories. We’ll create memories and build connections as one night becomes a forever imprint on our hearts and minds.
Even if you are not spending the night, we encourage you to come out and visit us on the plaza!
Recently the James Cultural Plaza was occupied overnight by a group hoping to raise awareness for homelessness in DeKalb County. Hearten House, a local nonprofit, hosted its annual event, “One Night,” to highlight homelessness in the area where participants were able to spend the night outside at the plaza to experience what homelessness may be like.
